Many years ago, the words historic and historical were considered synonyms and were often used interchangeably. Later on, their meanings changed slightly.
Generally, the word “historic” refers to any event, object, or place that is considered an important part of history.
Whereas the word “historical” refers to anything — or everything — that has happened in the past.
For instance, if your grandfather built a house 100 years ago, then it is a historical house.
But our Rang Ghar, Kareng Ghar, and Talatal Ghar are historic buildings.
Similarly, in earlier times, people used to work for the British — that’s just a historical fact.
But in 1857, when people started to revolt against the British, it became a historic event, because it led Indians toward freedom.
In short: any past is historical, but a significant past is historic.
